BLUEGRASS CROSSING THE MASON DIXON LINE
SAVAGE MOUNTAIN STILLERS
about
Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, and Cumberland, MD, Savage Mountain Stillers brings together a core of four DelFest Academy alumni for a traditional bluegrass experience.
The band has studied with some of the greats of bluegrass -- guitarists Ronnie Bowman (Band of Ruhks), Andy Falco (Infamous Stringdusters), Leigh Gibson (The Gibson Brothers) and Cody Kilby (The Travelin' McCourys), bassists Mike Barber (The Gibson Brothers), Missy Raines (The New Hip) and Alan Bartram (Del McCoury Band), and banjo phenoms Murphy and Casey Henry, Rob McCoury (Del McCoury Band) and Eric Gibson (The Gibson Brothers).
Their name is derived from the mountain that they cross for rehearsals, a love of distilled liquor and, quite possibly, the Yinzer pronunciation of at least two band members' favorite football team.
